Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders: The Trellix Emerging Leader Program

How can we empower the leaders of tomorrow today? The Trellix Emerging Leader Program goes beyond teaching leadership skills. It focuses on unlocking potential and providing participants with the tools they need to succeed in all aspects of their careers. From developing essential leadership skills to nurturing a growth mindset, this program helps individuals excel at Trellix and beyond. It's not just about meeting requirements; it's about pushing boundaries, embracing new ways of thinking, and preparing for whatever lies ahead in their careers. This is the second part of our in-depth look at the Trellix Emerging Leader Program, where we delve into what it takes to empower the next generation of leaders. If you missed part one, don't worry – you can catch up here.
Meet the newest Emerging Leaders! While these leaders have only been at Trellix for three months, they've already started making waves. We'll hear from them about their experiences so far, their evolving leadership styles, and the challenges they've encountered. Stay tuned to follow their inspiring journeys and get a glimpse of what it takes to become an emerging leader at Trellix!
Can you tell us about yourself and how you first learned about this program?
Katelyn Piert-Provo “I graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology with a supporting area in Front-End Development and E-Commerce. I struggled with deciding exactly what field I wanted to pursue. One of my sorority sisters referred me to this amazing opportunity. In my free time, I like to record and edit videos, and sew.”
Carson Hess “I attended Wake Forest University, where I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a concentration in Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery. While I loved my time at Wake and my major, an individual at Trellix recommended the Emerging Leaders Program to me – an opportunity to explore several aspects of the business and be in an industry as riveting as cybersecurity. In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, golfing, and watching football (go dawgs!).”
Jordan Klapper “I recently graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. I relocated to Dallas, Texas. I love watching and playing sports, as well as getting to meet new people. I first heard about the Emerging Leader Program from a former Trellix employee who shared the potential benefits of getting involved in a rotational program.”
Marquise Gainey “I’m originally from Atlanta, GA. I’ve always had a strong interest in technology and leadership development, which led me to pursue opportunities in these areas. I heard about this program during a job fair at my school, St. John’s University. Outside of work, I enjoy staying active, exploring new cities, and trying out new cuisines.”
What has your experience been like so far, and what have you learned so far?
Katelyn Piert-Provo “My experience has been great so far. I am so grateful to be in such a unique experience where I am able just to learn, grow, and experience everything possible. Everyone has been very welcoming and helpful, which is a big plus.”
Carson Hess “My experience has been nothing short of fantastic. Wrapping my head around the cybersecurity industry and Trellix’s offerings was a challenging and exciting experience. It certainly pushed me outside of my comfort zone, but has been incredibly rewarding. Everyone I’ve worked with has been kind and supportive, and I love the team environment. I look forward to continuing to learn about the industry, our products, and how we can drive unparalleled value for our customers.”
Jordan Klapper “My experience has been great so far. I am currently working as a Value Engineer and helping Sales Reps show the value our product brings to customers. I have learned how to ask informative questions and what goes into a useful product presentation. Most importantly, I’ve learned how to understand a problem and show the true value that our product is able to bring.”
Marquise Gainey “Being exposed to so many different technologies keeps me in a place where I’m constantly curious and learning about the Trellix ecosystem. I’ve gained insights into how different teams collaborate and how innovation is driven within the company. Every day, I’m learning something new; whether it's the latest tools or leadership strategies, and that’s been incredibly motivating for me.”
What excites you most about being part of this program, and what are you looking forward to in future rotations?
Katelyn Piert-Provo “The unknown excites me the most. I feel like college only exposes you to so much. You only know what you like based on what you have seen. Being placed into roles I’ve never even imagined or known about really excites me. I am looking forward to learning more about not only the new rotations and people in them, but also more about myself as I navigate through them. “
Carson Hess “The ability to explore different sects of the business that I find interesting is a very unique opportunity, and one that I have great gratitude towards. As always, I’m excited to navigate a new environment and the challenges that a different position has to offer.”
Jordan Klapper “I am excited about getting to explore different areas of the company to see where my passions lie. I am looking forward to further explore how different areas of the company work together to allow a business to run properly.”
Marquise Gainey “What excites me the most is being able to meet new people from diverse backgrounds and hearing about their unique experiences. I thrive on collaboration, and being surrounded by individuals who think differently pushes me to grow both personally and professionally. In future rotations, I’m eager to expand my knowledge and identify areas where I can improve while exploring new aspects of leadership and project management.”
What advice would you give to someone who’s thinking about applying to the Emerging Leader Program?
Katelyn Piert-Provo “DON’T BE SCARED, DO IT! For one, it’s easy to get intimidated and assume you don’t meet the qualifications, but truthfully you never know if you never try. Secondly, this is an amazing opportunity that I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Go in with an open mind and experience it in its fullness. “
Carson Hess “Evaluate where you’re at in your life right now; do you know where you want to be in 10 years? From my experience, most don’t know where they see themselves 3 years from now, let alone 10. If you’re driven, have a passion for learning and navigating new and challenging experiences, and want the opportunity to explore a number of roles that may be of interest to you before deciding on your career path, the Emerging Leaders program is perfect for you.”
Jordan Klapper “The Emerging Leader Program gives you the opportunity to explore different areas of a company which allows you to find something you’re passionate about. It gives you professional experience in four different divisions to see how various aspects of a company work together.”
Marquise Gainey “The best advice I could give is to stay open-minded and maintain a bird’s-eye view of the company. It's important to understand how different departments and functions work together, and broadening your perspective will allow you to see how the business operates as a whole. Embrace challenges as opportunities to learn, and be proactive about your growth—both are key to making the most out of this experience.”
What’s Next
As we continue to explore the Trellix Emerging Leader Program, the journey for these four rising leaders is just beginning. In the coming months, they’ll dive deeper into new rotations, take on more responsibilities, and face challenges that will push them out of their comfort zones. Each experience will shape their leadership abilities and career paths, offering insights into the evolving landscape of cybersecurity and business innovation.
In part three, we’ll shift focus to those who have graduated from the Emerging Leader Program and are now thriving in their careers. We’ll hear their stories of how the program shaped their paths, the lessons they’ve carried forward, and how they’re applying those leadership skills in their current roles. Whether they’re driving innovation, leading teams, or taking on new challenges, these graduates are living proof of the program’s lasting impact.
